From the very first moment I stepped onto the Pine Castle campus, I knew I was in the right place. I felt love and acceptance. I saw genuine friendships, smiles, handshakes and fist bumps. I was nervous and uncertain about what the future held, but the people at Pine Castle welcomed me as if I were already home.

Bryant’s story is much the same.

Five years ago, Bryant arrived at Pine Castle hesitant and unsure of what to expect. He was cautious about opening up and forming new relationships, unsure whether the people he met would truly be there for him. But at Pine Castle, Bryant found something different, a community where people showed up, day after day. He developed new skills, built friendships, participated in team sports and most importantly, found his voice through music.

Today, Bryant has found his voice in more ways than one. He sings and plays guitar and tambourine with The Flashbacks, Pine Castle’s band, performing throughout the community and even earning money through those performances. And he’s not stopping there. Bryant continues to set new goals for himself and dreams of one day using his voice to advocate publicly for people with intellectual and developmental differences. Bryant found the courage to believe in himself because someone first believed in him.
