Pine Castle will be closed for our holiday break from Monday, December 23rd to Wednesday, January 1st, to provide a restful, well-deserved break for our amazing staff and their families. We will reopen for normal hours on Thursday, January 2nd.
Even though many people with IDD suffer from severe mental health conditions, treatment practices do not reflect this reality. Unfortunately, it is common for IDD to be misdiagnosed and misunderstood by the health care system. Further, most health care facilities treat IDD as a burden or something to “manage”.
Here at Pine Castle, we don’t see it this way. Our holistic mental health program will treat your loved ones with the care and dignity they deserve. We believe that people with IDD can grow, heal, and make real progress on their mental health.
The rate of mental health conditions for those with an intellectual or developmental difference (IDD) is estimated to be two to three times higher than for the general population.
Mental Health Method
The Pine Castle mental health program is designed to treat the whole person. We achieve this through the following individualized assessment and care:
Mental health assessment by a Licensed Practitioner
Individualized, evidence-based treatment
Activities focused on building holistic well-being through independence, communication, mood modulation, community engagement, skill development, and much more
As a part of our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (PSR), we help educate our participants on their co-occurring IDD and mental health conditions. We work with participants to develop coping skills, reduce symptoms, improve relationships, and much more. At Pine Castle, each PSR group is led by a Behavioral Health Technician and contains no more than 12 participants.
Individual Counseling
We take a client-centered therapeutic approach and use a variety of evidence-based practices to address concerns in a one-on-one setting.
Intake Evaluations
A licensed mental health therapist will conduct an initial evaluation to determine if your loved one will benefit from our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program, individual counseling, or both. Intake assessments provide clinicians with the biological, psychological, and behavioral data they need to develop an accurate diagnosis and create an effective treatment plan.
